Well, we have yet another state-of-the-art installation, this time for our friends up the street at the Salt Lake Art Center. For their exhibit, New Frontier (part of the Sundance Film Festival events), they wanted to showcase an interactive installation that would connect the rest of their modern art exhibits and all other events of the festival taking place in Park City.
So we put our noggins together for an entrance to the New Frontier. And, well, our minds gave birth to a multi-touch display that aggregates Tweets and Gowalla check-ins to Sundance and New Frontier activities in both Salt Lake and Park City.
The entrance whimsically shows Sundance go-ers waiting in line while using various gadgets to check into locations, Tweet about the movies, and interact with New Frontier venues. This all leads to a multi-touch screen that displays all the content in vivid HD.
Our tech gurus created a new algorithm for the New Frontier hashtag (as well as Gowalla check-ins) that prioritizes Tweets based on proximity and time (most recent and closest given highest prominence in the display).
As of today, our baby is up and running and will stay through and after the Film Festival. So check it, or at least Tweet us a shout-out.
