The Amazing Spider-Man Style Guide
Sony Pictures
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
We’ve been sketching (and pretending to be) Spider-Man since our elementary school days. So when Sony Pictures approached Struck to create a style guide and packaging program for The Amazing Spider-Man, our Spidey-senses went crazy. Sony gave us early access to footage and the film’s major themes—resulting in an illustrated art and CG/photo-real program for both Spider-Man and The Lizard that would reach multiple audiences. Since this is a complete re-boot, we wanted to bring a new dynamic that would appeal to fans young and old. Our Spider-Man treatments were heavily influenced by New York City’s architecture and the contrasting colors of the city at night. We also treated the type to act as a graphic element, representing the way Spidey sees the city. For the film’s villain, we mixed the stability and technology of a science lab with the reckless abandon of The Lizard in all his fury. Look out! Here comes the Spider-Man!
